What can I expect on my first visit?

Your first appointment is about understanding you and your goals, not just your symptoms. We'll review your history, explore what's changed, and assess how your body is adapting and functioning.We'll explain our findings clearly. If chiropractic or neuromuscular therapy is appropriate, we'll begin care on the day. You'll also get personalised advice on how to get the best results from your care.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in.Loose-fitting clothing can make it easier to assess movement, but it's not essential. For some assessments, we may ask you to remove a jacket or outer layer, and occasionally shoes, but you'll always remain appropriately covered and comfortable throughout your appointment.If you're attending for a sports injury, bringing shorts or suitable clothing for the affected area can sometimes be helpful.

Should I choose Chiropractic or Neuromuscular Therapy?

If you're not sure, don't worry, you're not expected to know the difference before booking.Both chiropractic and neuromuscular therapy focus on helping people move better and feel better, but they use different assessment and treatment approaches.Generally speaking:Chiropractic may be a good choice if you're experiencing joint pain, back or neck pain, headaches, sciatica, or if you're looking for care during pregnancy or for your child.
Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) often focuses more on muscles, tendons and movement. It may be particularly helpful for sports injuries, persistent muscle tightness or rehabilitation.
In many cases, the two approaches complement each other. Some patients choose one, while others benefit from a combination of chiropractic and neuromuscular therapy.If you're unsure which appointment to book, just get in touch. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction, and if we feel the other practitioner would be a better fit, we'll always let you know.

What if Chiropractic or Neuromuscular Therapy isn't the right option for me?

Your wellbeing always comes first.Our priority is to help you find the most appropriate care, not simply to provide a treatment. We do a thorough assessment to determine whether chiropractic or neuromuscular therapy is suitable for you.If we feel another healthcare professional or a different approach would better meet your needs, we'll explain our reasoning and help guide you towards the most appropriate next step.Our goal is to ensure you receive the right care, even if that care isn't with us.

Who will be looking after me?

At Atlantic Chiropractic, your care will be provided by either Eoghan, our neuromuscular therapist,  or Clare, our Chiropractor. In some cases, you'll see both of us.Eoghan is a qualified Neuromuscular Therapist with a background in strength and conditioning and rehabilitation. His approach combines hands-on treatment, movement assessment and practical rehabilitation strategies to help people move with greater confidence and resilience.Clare is a registered chiropractor with a special interest in family care, pregnancy and paediatrics. She is Webster Certified through the International Chiropractic Paediatric Association (ICPA) and is passionate about helping people of all ages move and feel their best.If you're unsure which appointment to book, don't worry. We'll help guide you towards the most appropriate option, and if we feel you'd benefit from seeing the other practitioner, or a combination of both, we'll always explain why.
